9 best things to do in Ubud

Go for a stroll on Campuhan Ridge walk

This is a 2km long famous walk in the center of Ubud. We recommend you to come here for sunrise to avoid the crows and because it’s not yet very hot in the morning. To walk from one side to the other it will take you around 20-30 min. A lot of people come here to run or walk their dogs. There is no entrance fee for this walk.

Chase some beautiful Waterfalls

Bali is famous for the incredible waterfalls and some of the most famous and special waterfalls are located just a 30-45 min drive from Ubud.

Kanto Lampo Waterfall

It’s a easy walk down here from the parking lot, which takes you around 3-5 min. The waterfall is big and beautiful. Come here early in the morning because it can get very crowded. The entrance fee is 20K IDR per person (ca. 1.50 $)

Tibumana Waterfall

A very pretty but also popular waterfall that is easy to access by a beautiful walk from the parking lot which takes you about 10 min. The entracne fee is 15K IDR (1$). Lately there are often weddings at this waterfall in the morning around 8am so be prepared that maybe you wont have it all to yourself.

Tukad Cepung Waterfall

This is a magical waterfall in a cave. The walk is about 10-15 min. Wear shoes that can get wet because the last part you will walk through the water. Entrance fee is 30K IDR (ca. 2.20$)

Dusun Kuning Waterfall

This is one of the lesser-known waterfalls but definitely worth a visit. The path that leads to the waterfall itself is a beautiful experience. You’ll walk through the jungle for about 45 min and enjoy stunning views on your way to the waterfall. Besides that there is no entrance fee for this waterfall and barely other visitors. When we visited this waterfall it didn’t have a lot of water but we found it beautiful anyway.

Sunrise at the Rice Terraces in Tegallalang

The rice terraces in Tegallalang are a famous tourist attraction and that is why we highly recommend you to visit them in the early morning. It’s a magical place to come for a sunrise. It’s a 30 min drive from Ubud center to get there and definitely worth to go up early for. The best times to visit the rice terraces are in November and April just before the harvesting takes place. Our photos were taken in September and around that time the rice wasn’t grown that much but we enjoyed the beautiful reflections in the water.

Go shopping on the traditional art market

If you look for some famous Bali basket bags or a beautiful dream catcher this is the place to get them. There are many stalls selling all the typical things that people want to buy in Bali. Don’t forget to haggle 🙂

Visit the Monkey forest

We first didn’t want to go because it’s quite a big tourist attraction that we usually avoid but in the end, we were happy that we went because we had so much fun at the Monkey forest. Be aware that it’s a bit pricey the entrance fee is 80K IDR which is about 6$ per person. But the Monkeys are so cute and fun to watch that they will make up for it.

Take a yoga class

Ubud has many amazing yoga retreats and it’s the perfect place to take your first yoga class. If you are already into Yoga then you have for sure heard how famous for it this place is.

Where to stay in Ubud

This is our favorite Budget option to stay in Ubud. It’s a cute guesthouse by a local family. The room we had was on the ground floor with a terrace and a lovely garden in front of it.

But in Ubud, you can also find some very beautiful resorts when you have a bit of a bigger budget. In these resorts, you have a beautiful pool and some jungle vibes around you. Most of these resorts offer Yoga classes and spa.

If you want to stay at a midrange place and still have an amazing pool with jungle view then we can recommend you to stay here:
