We spent three nights in Stockholm, and we were fortunate with the weather because we visited Sweden in Spring when you can expect all kinds of weather.
We stayed at a hotel near the city center to be able to explore the city by walking.
Our favorite was the old town of Stockholm. Gamla Stan, how it’s called, is full of beautiful and colorful little houses with cute cafes that have small shops in it. It’s a place where you can just let yourself drift and find some beautiful spots.
What to do in Stockholm
Visit the City Hall
The Stockholm City Hall is an impressive and beautiful building located on the other side of the river. From the old town, you have a beautiful view of the building.
Did you know that the award of the famous Nobel Prize is happening each year in the city hall? We didn’t. The Nobel Prize is considered to be the highest award in the fields of physics, chemistry, and physiology. It was an exceptional feeling to be in these halls where such great and influential people have been before. Besides that, the Golden Hall is one of the most beautiful rooms we have ever seen before and a must-see.
Visiting the city hall is only possible by a tour on which you get a lot of new and exciting information.
Taking the metro
Taking the metro is something you shouldn’t miss in Stockholm. The reason for that is the spectacular metro stations. Look at the pictures below, which are saying more than 1000 words could explain.
We took the metro to the neighborhood Södermalm where you have a fantastic view of the city’s skyline.
Go for a walk in the Royal Djurgarden National Park
We spent an afternoon walking through Stockholm’s gorgeous and vast Royal Djurgarden National Park. You can discover a lot of beautiful places in this park, and sometimes it feels like being in the middle of nature and not in a big city. This feeling is one thing we loved most about Stockholm.
In this park, you can find Prins Eugens Waldermarsudde, which hosts his spectacular art collection.
The same evening we had dinner at the restaurant Oaxen Slip which is inside the National Park. This restaurant is worth a visit as it’s decoration and food are terrific.
Where to eat in Stockholm
We loved the many food options Stockholm has to offer and enjoyed a few very delicious spots to eat. Our favorites are:
- Ostermalm Saluhall (market hall): for all kinds of food
- Nybrogatan 38
- Pepstop: vegan food shop
- Berns Asiatiska: good place for sushi and Asia food
Stockholm has a lot of vegan restaurants, as well as many shops where you can find sustainable fashion brands. This city is very much ahead of others when it comes to sustainable living. Something that we appreciate a lot!
Where to stay in Stockholm
Our favorite neighborhood in Stockholm was Östermalm, and we can recommend staying in this area. There are a lot of restaurants, and it’s a very cool place to stay.
One Hotel we, unfortunately, didn’t stay at during our time in Stockholm but is on our wishlist for next time is Miss Clara by Nobis. The house itself and its interior are amazing!
During our stay, we fell in love with Stockholm, and we will be back again to experience more of its vibe and fantastic friendly and kind people. Next time maybe during summer, when the nights stay light.
