9 best plastic-free and natural beauty products

plastic-free beauty products

Over the last couple of years, we changed our habits because we constantly learned to live more sustainably and healthier.

Besides changing our nutrition and buying food without plastic packaging, we also changed to a plastic-free and natural beauty routine. We use fewer products and are more mindful of choosing the beauty products we use. We choose only vegan products, cruelty-free (which means not tested on animals) and chemical-free. In addition to that, we wanted to find products that have the least plastic packaging and make less to no waste.

Our world produces over 260 million tons of plastic each year, and a significant amount of this plastic ends up in nature, especially our oceans. The only effective way to stop this is to stop buying all these products that are either packed in plastic or made from plastic.

Because this was a long and still ongoing process with a lot of trial and error for us, we wanted to share our experiences and our favorite products we found so far because this could help others to save time and money.

Plastic-free Deodorant

Plastic-free deodorants were one of the challenges we faced. There are more and more providers coming now, but for quite a long time, it was hard to find one.

Our favorite plastic-free deodorants are from Coconut matter, which is based on organic, virgin coconut oil. Besides, they are completely natural, vegan, cruelty-free, and completely Zero waste.

Their mission is to make organic beauty products with only plant-based and natural ingredients. To save the planet with the plastic-free packaging of their products. And to be kind without testing any products on animals and to give back to the community where their core ingredient coconut oil comes from.

Soap Bars for Face, Body, and Hair

Our go-to for a plastic-free beauty routine are Soap Bars. Replacing our shower cream and shampoo with soap bars helped us reduce our plastic waste a lot. We usually have a facial soap bar, a shower bar, a shampoo bar, and even a conditioner bar. And we find them literally everywhere. Mostly in zero-waste or natural/organic shops.

Plastic-free Hair Ties

We hadn’t thought about our hair ties in a long time. But they are made of plastic usually and don’t we all lose them all the time!? So we looked for a plastic-free, organic, and biodegradable hair tie and found them at Kooshoo.

Plastic-free and Fluoride-free toothpaste

The toothpaste tubes industry is massively destructive, and that is why searched for an alternative. We found our favorite toothpaste at Anima Mundi. It is not only plastic-free but also Fluoride-free, which is another important aspect for us when choosing toothpaste.

In addition to that, this tooth polish is a highly alkalizing plant paste filled with enzymes, minerals, and probiotics. This nutritional polish is composed of protective antimicrobial herbs, that also assist in detox and alkalinity.

Plastic-free toothbrush and dental floss

Toothbrushes, as well as Toothpaste and Dental floss, are products that usually generate a lot of waste. We were looking for the best alternatives and are using now the beautiful bamboo toothbrushes from the Truthbrush.

They are available in soft and medium and have plant-based bristles too, which a lot of wooden toothbrushes don’t have. Besides you can buy a nice travel case as well.

The dental floss we use is from Georganics which is a brand that offers amazing zero waste products for your dental care as well. From toothbrushes, and different kinds of dental floss to toothpaste tablets which are amazing for traveling, and mouthwash in recyclable aluminum bottles.

We usually use a toothpaste from Orbimed that contains Vitamin B12 which is very helpful for us vegans. They have toothpaste doves that are 100% organic and made from sugar cane which is way more sustainable.

Plastic-free safety razor

One of the best and easiest things to save plastic is to change to a safety razor instead of disposable razors. There are super pretty razors available like this one from Oway (which is, by the way, an amazing, natural haircare brand, selling their shampoos in glass bottles).

The benefits besides making no plastic waste with this razor are that you will save money because the blades last longer, and you won’t have any irritations on your skin because it cuts way better.

Our friends from Kappi are selling very beautiful safety razors and other zero waste products like reusable make-up remover pads (which are essential in our beauty routine) as well. If you purchase from Kappi use the Code SUNCHASING10 at check-out to get 10% off.

OrganiCup

Girls, this is for you, and believe me, it was one of the best changes I made in my life. A menstrual cup replaces tampons and ties and saves you a lot of money. Besides, you don’t make any trash while having your period. How amazing is that!?

There are many different menstrual cups, I chose the Organicup, and I am super happy with my choice. It is much healthier than using tampons, can be worn up to 12 hours, and lasts for years.

Honestly, if you change to use a menstrual cup, you will have to allow yourself some time to get used to it. But once you are, you will never want to go back again.

Soy-Based natural Nailpolish Remover

I used always polish my nails and use a regular nail polish remover. But when I realized how many chemicals are in nail polish and the remover, I started to be more mindful about it and reduce my use. These days, I don’t wear nail polish often, and only as natural as possible when I do. So I found Sundays and  their Nailpolish is 10-free, Nontoxic, and Vegan. And they have a soy-based natural Nailpolish remover that comes in a glass bottle as well.

Natural and chemical-free perfume

One of our favorite products we found a few years ago was Zarko Perfume. Well, a lot of perfume you can buy is sold in glass bottles so this is not so much about zero waste but way more about your health.

We realized that most perfumes you can buy in perfumeries contain a lot of chemicals. When you think of that you put these chemicals on your skin daily it’s a horrible imagination. This thought made us search for a natural perfume that we still like and feel special to us and we found this company from Denmark. Just a personal favorite we want to share with you in case if you look for a better alternative too.

Conclusion

We know that changing your lifestyle to a healthier and more sustainable one is a process and not always easy. That is why we thought getting to know these products could be helpful and inspiring for you. Feel free to contact us with your questions or your tips.

We are convinced that together we can save our planet by consuming less and more mindful. Especially when it comes to plastic waste, our planet really needs us to overthink our impact and getting better at making less waste.
